As our lodge is located with park all around us, we have the privilege of having lots of wildlife in the remoteness of Alaska’s Lake Clark National Park. We see many bears daily, but it’s common to see many other species of large and small animals, and many types of birds including bald eagles that hang out along the beaches as well.

We traveled through both Canada and Alaska for 9 weeks and were very hopeful for this 2-days trip. Our expectations were not even half of what we have been experiencing! The flight over mountains, active volcano’s up close and secluded glaciers had something mysterious and when we looked at each other…big smiles, all 5 of us. When Michael flew his Cessna into the idyllic Chinitna Bay we already knew that we would love our stay! The lodge lies directly on the beach and offers all the comfort from a 3* hotel, with 5* service… We were spoiled to perfection. “Thank you Angie, you made us feel like home and we would love to come back to your ‘paradise’! And who would expect to have a private cabin with a comfortable bed, hot shower and heating there. And even internet in the lodge! And how about a private guide!!!
This exceptional, peaceful place gives one the feeling to be all alone and one with nature, in often absolute silence…with the bears…
And we have seen bears in dozens at all times exploring the bay , and we had the pleasure to be guided by Matt. It is in one word ‘phenomenal’ how he can make one feel part of the wilderness and friends with the grizzlies in such a short time.
His stories are endless and he’s so exited in what he does; one senses that bears are a big part of his life…and so he took us for a midnight walk: ” Memorable!” We couldn’t imagine ourselves walking through bear country and not having any fear or at least feeling a little nervous; but nothing ‘s more wrong. And although we didn’t underestimate these animals and never ignored what Matt said, it felt like walking in the park. We couldn’t explain this in any other way:” It’s all about confidence!” Matt gave us knowledge and guided us in safety and with full respect for the animal. We learnt so much and had an amazing trip!!!
We will never forget you guys! But be sure: “We’ll come back for more and longer…”
